API610 pumps inspection requirements of material and component

The datas need be kept in file for 20 years suggested in API610:

a) necessary or specified certification of materials, such as mill test reports;

b) test data and results to verify that the requirements of the specification have been met;

c) if specified, details of all repairs and records of all heat treatment performed as part of a repair procedure;

d) results of quality control tests and inspections;

e) as-built running clearances;

f) other data specified by the purchaser or required by applicable codes and regulations (see L.3.1 and L.3.2).

                                               Pressure Casing and Process Piping Materials Inspection

API610 PUMPS

I Class Inspection: For all duties.

II Class Inspection: For pump working pressure≥80% MAWP +

                                         pumping temperature≥200℃.

III Class Inspection: 1, Pumping liquid<0.5;

                                2, Pumping liquid<0.5 + pumping temperature>200℃;

                                3, Pumping temperature>260℃;

                                4, Operation condition vital dangerous specified by purchaser.

“Casing”includes all items of the pressure boundary of the finished pump casing (e.g.the casing itself and other parts, such as nozzles, flanges, etc. attached to the casing). “Critical areas”are inlet nozzle locations, outlet nozzle locations, and casing wall thickness changes. The manufacturer shall submit details of the critical areas proposed to receive MT/PT/RT/UT inspection for purchaser's approval.

8.2.2.4 Where the configuration of a casting makes radiography impossible, radiographic examination may be replaced by ultrasonic testing.

8.2.2.2 For double-casing pumps, the outer casing pressure/temperature shall be used to determine the inspection class of the outer casting (see 8.2.2.1). The inner casing shall be inspected to Class I (Table 14), for it does not bear pressure.

Detailed inspection procedure:

Pump casing casting→→→→

castings surface treatment (sand blasting, shot blasting, chemical cleaning or any other standard method for cleaning, to meet MSS SP-55 visual requirement)→→→→

welding of auxiliary lines or pump inlet and outlet (non-destructive testing for the welds may be required during welding according to API610)→→→→

post-weld heat treatment→→→→

non-destructive testing requirements for welds after heat treatment→→→→

If required, casing fine machining (VI/MT/PT shall be performed in the rough mahining state after final heat treatment. In the rough machining state, areas that need to be machined to critical dimensions and tolerances still have a certain amount of additional material remaining. The amount of additional material removed shall not exceed 0.040inches (1mm) material stock or 5% of the minimum allowable wall thickness, whichever is less).
